Wow, how the time flies. It seems like the year began only yesterday, yet here we are wrapping up summer and heading into the fall.

In nature, fall is a season when things wind down in anticipation of winter. Within the ministry of the Bowie Baptist Association, however, fall is full of opportunities to serve Christ and extend His kingdom.

So, what’s up?

Just around the corner is 1 Day TXK, our one-day mission experience. On Saturday, September 20th, you will have an opportunity to serve through a variety of evangelistic activities. My goal is that we present Christ to at least 1000 persons that day. Information on how you can participate is in this issue of the FOCUS and online at

Another opportunity has come to us through the Texarkana Housing Authority. They are asking for churches to sponsor Block Parties at the 4 family complexes on National Night Out, Tuesday, October 7th. First Baptist of Wake Village has already stepped up for one. We need at least three more. This is another opportunity to present Christ and share His love with our neighbors. Contact the BBA office to commit.

Several churches have planned Fall Festivals or other outreach events around late October. Three churches have booked the Evangelistic Event Trailer, but several open dates remain. A full schedule will be provided as details come in.

Finally, on Sunday, November 9th, the Bowie Baptist Association will again have our Partnership Celebration and Annual Meeting. First Baptist Church of Nash will host. As was the case last year, this event will include breakout sessions and a missions expo. Here we will celebrate God’s work through our partnership to-date as we look ahead to the future.

I look forward to seeing what happens as together we elevate Christ across Texarkana and Bowie County. If there is an event in your church you would like to open up to others, let us know and we will get the word out. And if you need assistance with any aspect of your ministry, please let me know. Remember, you are the association’s primary mission field.

May God bless and keep you, and may all we do bring glory to His name and a smile to His face.

Bro. Jim
